VP of Strategic & Western Sales
Michael is Vice President of Strategic and Western Sales, and he brings two decades of accomplishments in business, policy and law. Michael works to build storage markets globally for UET, with particular focus on strategic, government, Western North America and Asia-Pacific markets. Prior to joining UET, Michael advised two Governors and leadership of the Washington State Department of Commerce on business development, policy and financial matters, including developing and launching finance initiatives for small businesses (almost $20 million) and clean technology ($40 million). He practiced international transactional and regulatory law, primarily in the energy sector, for five years at a Washington, DC based law firm before joining the US Treasury Department in 2007. During a four-year tenure at Treasury Michael served as Senior Policy Advisor, Deputy of the Office of Investment Security and Deputy Staff Chair of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. While at Treasury, Michael helped conceive, launch and manage the US-China Investment Forum, and served as a primary negotiator on investment outcomes for the US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue and its predecessor forum.
Michael holds degrees from Oregon State University and the George Washington University School of Law. Michael is also a veteran, having served in the United States Army from 1989-1992.
